This module, grounded in the BEAST values—Believe, Expect, Act, Support, Trust—guides you to become your best self at school, home, and life, using SEL to develop mindsets and tools for personal and academic success.

This module delivers embedded, on interactive professional learning  that is aligned to school improvement goals, and unites staff, students, and families to build SEL skills that raise achievement, reduce disruptions, and strengthen overall school climate.

This module helps families actively support students’ daily progress by providing practical involvement strategies and strengthening   communication and trust by promoting  shared responsibility for learning and a consistent home–school partnership. 

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Library

The Beast SEL Library is a carefully selected collection of books and tools that build the five core SEL competencies—self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

The library is designed for classrooms and families, each title delivers practical, age-appropriate lessons that help students understand emotions, show empathy, make wise choices, and strengthen relationships. Teacher guides, family prompts, and self-development modules extend every book into routines and activities that turn learning into daily routines and practice.

Students learn the power of looking inward as they explore emotions, strengths, and hidden talents. The Mirror and Me shows that greatness begins with knowing yourself. Educator and family-friendly activities help learners build honest self-knowledge, a positive identity, and the confidence to navigate challenges at school, at home, and beyond.

The Bully Free Zone

SEL  Focus:   â€‹Self-Management​

Learners discover practical ways to handle emotions and impulses. Through memorable scenes, they rehearse pause-breathe-choose routines, set small goals, use positive self-talk, and track progress. Calm-down tools and reflection check-ins turn strategies into daily habits, improving focus, persistence, and decision-making in class and at home, while reducing low-level disruptions and stress.

Students practice seeing the world through others’ eyes. The story models empathy, respectful listening, and appreciation for differences in culture, ability, and perspective. Classroom prompts and partner activities build kindness, inclusion, and team trust, helping every learner feel seen and valued while strengthening relationships among peers, teachers, families, and the wider community.

Students unlock the formula for making and keeping great friends. The Friendship Formula teaches clear communication, kindness, problem-solving, and how to bounce back from conflict. D. Isha Kirton | Executive Director of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships

Co-Author of The BEAST | Master Storyteller & Community Builder

D. Isha Kirton brings over four decades of experience in marketing, broadcasting, and educational publishing. Her career includes leadership roles across major radio markets in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Columbia, including key positions with iHeart Media. Now retired from broadcasting, she applies her expertise to advancing education and community development. As Executive Director of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships and Co-Author of The BEAST School Climate System, Isha leverages her extensive background in advertising, event production, promotions, and graphic design to elevate transformative programs for students, educators, and families. A prolific storyteller and children’s book author, she creates narratives that support social-emotional learning, belonging, and positive school culture. Isha is also a Certified Clemson University Master Gardener, partnering with schools and youth organizations to lead her Growing Schools and Communities initiative—developing school gardens and outdoor learning experiences that promote hands-on learning, wellness, and community engagement. Her commitment to education, creativity, and community service makes her a dynamic presenter, author, and advocate for youth. Through her work with her husband Dr. Kirton, she helps schools build environments where belonging, growth, and student voice are central to the learning experience.

Robert L. Kirton, Ed.D. | Master Builder
 

Dr. Robert L. Kirton brings over three decades of community service, including honorable service in the U.S. Navy and leadership in public education. His career includes roles as Professor of Educational Leadership, Executive Director of Schools, Area Superintendent, Principal, and a Master’s Level Building Construction Teacher. He now serves as DNA Educational Solutions CEO, specializing as a Leadership Coach, School Climate Specialist, Author, and Motivational Speaker. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Kirton has turned vision into results—founding a public charter school that graduated 100% of its Black male students, designing an Excel Academy that moved over-aged middle schoolers to on-time graduation, and building a Social Emotional Learning Climate System that substantially increased elementary reading scores. He has also secured over $100 million in grants and resources to strengthen schools and communities.

 

As a professor of educational leadership, Dr. Kirton has mentored countless educators, principals, and superintendents toward earning their doctoral degrees—shaping the next generation of transformational leaders. His contributions have been recognized nationally, including the National FBI Director’s Award for Community Leadership and Development. His work reflects a powerful vision for schools and communities where equity, achievement, and opportunity are the standard for all.
